About

Since 1993, Debbie Manser has been leading fun and safe adventures with Amelia Island Horseback Riding. These include sunrise, sunset, day, private, and special occasions, such as proposals.

While Debbie is no longer involved with the company, the new owner, Robin Allen, carries on her time-honored traditions.

According to an article in Horse & Rider, Robin selects her horses based upon "...training, temperament, and intelligence in the horse." While some outfitters source only one specific breed, Amelia Island Horseback Riding features a diverse herd. "We have a Gypsy Vanner, a Quarter Horse, a Paint, and a Tennessee Walker." The organization owns 25 horses, ensuring an animal for every age and riding ability.

Along with her stellar herd of horses, Robin has a team of seasoned guides. These equestrians provide expert assistance to riders of all levels, and know tide charts and what it takes to keep a horse steady by the sea. These skills come into play when the weather changes or wildlife suddenly appears beyond the dunes.

What makes a horseback ride on Amelia Island a chance of a lifetime is that, unlike other Florida beaches, loud music isn't allowed. And because the island attracts a more low-key crowd, a beach ride is more relaxing and less crowded.

All rides depart from Peters Point Park and last about one hour. With its location near other attractions, it's easy to create a fun-filled itinerary. For instance, after a morning ride, spend the day at American Beach. Or continue exploring the outdoors at Fernandina Beach with a kayak or boat tour with Amelia Adventures.

Amelia Island Horseback Riding will be a highlight of your Florida getaway, with its devoted guides, well-mannered horses, and dedication to safety.

Amelia Island Horseback Riding: Fun Facts & Cool Features

Rest assured that every tour is created based on rider experience. And since groups are kept small, you receive a tailor-made adventure. For riders with experience, you may get the opportunity to canter or trot along the surf. If you're seeking the ultimate personalized ride, explore the private tours.

While the rides let you experience the wind, sand, and surf on horseback, the professional guides do so with conservancy in mind. Tours bypass turtle nesting grounds or adjust departure times to avoid conflicts with the activities of these sea reptiles.

Speaking of animal care, the crew at Amelia Island Horseback Riding takes good care of its horses. Since the salty air dries out coats and hooves, the staff uses fresh water rinses and shady stalls to keep every animal in top shape. Above all, the animals are well-fed, rested, and loved.

Since we're talking about the guides, not only are they seasoned and compassionate horse handlers, but they also know the intricacies of the island. On any given tour, the guides tweak routes based on the tide and weather, so no ride is identical. You might spot dolphins breaching offshore, see flocks of wading birds, or spot creatures darting through the marsh grasses.

Most of all, your tour is a photo op of a lifetime! Sunrise and sunset rides offer quiet settings and dazzling hues. Whether using the surf or the rolling dunes as a backdrop, you'll have plenty of chances for a memorable shot.

So, grab your posse and book an adventure with Amelia Island Horseback Riding for a giddy-up-and-go Florida experience of a lifetime.
