About

When you're craving farm-to-table fare and wood-fired pizzas in a cozy wine bar setting, make your way to Vin 909 Winecafé.

In 2012, Alex and his father, Chuck, opened the restaurant. Alex brought his sharpened skills working in Michelin-starred restaurants in San Francisco, while Chuck brought years of experience from Washington, D.C.'s upscale dining scene. Together, they've crafted a space that blends Mediterranean and Californian influences into fresh, New American cuisine.

The name "Vin" comes from the French word for wine, reflecting the restaurant's Euro charm and dedication to fine wines. The "909" is a nod to its address on Bay Ridge Avenue, right in the heart of Annapolis' Eastport neighborhood.

Fresh and healthy ingredients are a big deal at Vin 909 Winecafé. They source ingredients from local, organic, and sustainable providers to ensure every dish is fresh and full of flavor. They've even partnered with Eastport Community Compost to become a zero-food-waste restaurant. Food scraps nourish their on-site garden, which grows everything from basil to tomatoes.

The restaurant's proximity to some of Annapolis' top attractions makes dining after sightseeing convenient. For instance, after touring the Chesapeake Bay with Schooner Woodwind Sailing Cruises, celebrate with a glass of wine. Refuel after exploring the paths and blooms at Quiet Waters Park with a robust pizza or seasonal meal.

Vin 909 Winecafé is a must-visit for those seeking culinary excellence that's as responsible as it is delicious.

Vibe

The first thing you'll notice is that this cafe is in a charming neighborhood and looks like a cozy home. The front yard is a lush garden, while the vintage architecture adds to its inviting vibe.

As you enter, the first thing you spot is the wine bar with warm wooden accents, soft lighting, and comfortable bar chairs. The open kitchen is a fun touch, letting you catch a glimpse of the chefs in action.

The main dining area features a coffered ceiling, rows of windows, and wooden four-top tables. The atmosphere is intimate and homey, making it ideal for a date night.

Conversely, the spacious covered back patio is perfect for outdoor dining. With ample space to spread out, it offers a laid-back atmosphere, perfect after watching the Annapolis Cup at St. John's College.

Whether you dine inside or out, you'll find that the atmosphere will enhance your Maryland vacation.

Vin 909 Winecafé: Menu & Drinks

The seasonal offerings and Wine Dinners make for an unrivaled epicurean experience. Since the offerings are changing regulaley, we'll only highlight some of the more popular options.

First up are the wood-fired pizzas, like the Spotted Pig Pizza. This pie is a mouthwatering combination of tomato sauce, house-made wild boar meatballs, soppressata, provolone, and fresh, local basil on a crisp crust.

Consider combining some of the starters to share. For instance, the Local Organic Red Beet & Hazelnut Tartar with the Zesty Baby Bok Choy and the Chef's Selection. You'll feel like you're dining in a European cafe with the artisan cheese and meat selections, condiments, and vegetable dishes.

After a day of sailing or sightseeing, satisfy your hunger with one of the hearty entrees. The Smash-Burger Sliders showcase Roseda beef patties with American Cheese, house-pickled poblano peppers, B&B pickles, and a creamy onion ketchup mayo. Add the mini brioche buns, and you've got a creative spin on the Jimmy Buffett song "Cheeseburger in Paradise."

The Wine Dinners are seasonal opportunities where the chef prepares a five-course meal with wine pairings for each serving. It's an intimate gathering connecting diners, chefs, wine, and artisan fare.

Speaking of wine, the cafe features over 40 vintages to pair with a lavish meal or simple appetizers. The beer selection is equally impressive, ensuring something for every palate.
