About

Imagine a private island off the coast of Aruba with white beaches, pink flamingos, and limited vacationers. Welcome to Renaissance Island, a 40-acre paradise accessible only by water taxi.

But there's a catch: the island is private, owned and operated by the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. Only registered guests may visit unless you snag a coveted day pass. More on this in our next section!

Renaissance Island has two areas: one for families and one for adults, ensuring everyone finds their slice of heaven.

Flamingo Beach is the top attraction on the island. Pink flamingos roam freely, adding a surreal touch to the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.

Aside from its natural and serene beauty, Renaissance Island stands out for its commitment to sustainability and preserving Aruba's unique ecosystem.

Since the island is minutes by boat from Oranjestad, visitors often combine a day trip with a dinner at restaurants like Po-Ké Ono Azure.

Getting onto Renaissance Island may be challenging, but it's worth the effort.

Renaissance Island: Fun Facts & Cool Features

As promised, here is the scoop on how to get to Renaissance Island if you're not a hotel guest: non-guests may purchase a day pass from the hotel.

The process is simple but comes with some caveats.

First, day passes are limited as the hotel doesn't want the island overrun with tourists. Second, passes sell out quickly, especially in peak season. Third, day passes are only available when the hotel is below 80% occupancy.

But don't despair! The key is to be "pleasantly persistent" and inquire frequently before your vacation and when you arrive.

Once you have a pass, it includes a water taxi service to and from the island and a $25 credit at the Papagayo Bar & Grill or Mango Beach Bar.

Naturally, the best part of securing a day pass is exploring the island! Be sure to visit one of the main attractions: Flamingo Beach. It's the only location in Aruba with flamingos, adding to the intrigue of Renaissance Island. You'll be able to walk and swim with these magnificent birds who are comfortable and almost nonchalant being around people.

Another impressive feature is the island's commitment to providing a "private island" experience. With limited access, beaches are never overcrowded, which makes every visit unique, whether it's your first or your fiftieth time.

Renaissance Island also boasts some of the most transparent waters in the Caribbean, making it a fantastic spot for snorkeling. The astonishing visibility reveals a vibrant underwater world teeming with colorful fish and coral formations. Every time you dip below the surface, it's a serene, captivating adventure.

While getting a day pass is challenging, it's well worth the effort! Renaissance Island offers a unique experience on an Aruba vacation, filling it with beauty, relaxation, and flamingo encounters.
