About

When Mike met Kathy Lee, little did he know they would marry and open the Cracked Crab in 1999. After more than two decades, the Cracked Crab has become the reigning champion of seafood spots in Pismo Beach.

While achieving this success was challenging, their philosophy was simple: serve only fresh seafood and make everything from scratch.

The menu changes daily to reflect what is available on the market. Meals showcase the day's best from local fishermen, and the chefs prepare it with love and attention to detail.

Part of the Cracked Crab's charm is its atmosphere. Like a Siren's song, the blue neon sign beacons seafood lovers, while the rustic beach shack meets chic Cali vibe welcomes all, transforming strangers into friends.

Centrally located in Pismo Beach, it's convenient to top attractions like the Pismo Beach Pier, making it an idyllic stop after a day of exploration.

When seeking top-notch, no-frills, day-caught fresh seafood, visit the Cracked Crab!

Vibe

The charming eatery is a mish-mash of fine dining with a laid-back setting. As you may or may not know, eating crab is serious business and can be messy! For this reason, butcher-quality white paper covers the tables where some courses are strewn on the tabletop. Here, patrons use crab hammers and pliers to crack the shells and get to the succulent sweet meat.

The bar area showcases a wood counter, stools, and trim, adding to the rustic vibe. Small tables dot the floor for an intimate meal or can be combined for larger groups.

Above the wainscot are nautical pictures, framed articles, and pictures that tell the story of the Cracked Crab. The decor's beachy charm creates a warm and welcoming cocoon suitable for family dinners, corporate meetings, and even a romantic meal.

The balance of liveliness and tranquility at the Cracked Crab makes it the perfect spot to relive your day at Spyglass Beach Tide Pools and savor sensational seafood.

Cracked Crab: Menu & Drinks

If you're a seafood lover, you'll be giddy about the menu changing daily. Such attention to detail ensures that every plate and bowl served is the sea's finest bounty.

Start your culinary adventure with the must-try Steamed Mussels. The made-to-order appetizer showcases steamed fresh mussels in a seasoned white wine cream sauce. It comes with sourdough rolls for dipping.

The showstopper is the Big Bucket For Two. This colossal meal features three shellfish of your choosing and then steamed with Old Bay, spicy Cajun sausage, red-skin potatoes, and corn cobettes. They are "casually served, " meaning they're dumped onto your table! Accompanied by drawn butter, homemade spicy cocktail and triple mustard sauces, and warm sourdough rolls, the Big Bucket epitomizes what it means to eat shellfish!

If you're not into seafood, "land lover" options are available. One standout is the Roasted Half Chicken Dinner. Chefs marinate Mary's Free Range Organic Chicken in Chimichurri sauce before roasting it golden brown. The meal comes with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.

The menu also offers fresh salads, fish tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and kid's portions. And when you need a cold beverage, the bar can craft cocktails and pour a glass of wine or pint of brew that will pair perfectly with your meal.

When craving fresh seafood in a vibey eatery, add the Cracked Crab to your Pismo Beach itinerary.
