About

Sitting on a downtown lot is a small brick-and-mortar store that delivers big on comfort food. Birmingham Wings & Waffles is an Iron City powerhouse that Jennifer and George Annab opened in 2020.

The family pooled their creative talents to showcase Jennifer's homemade sauces, marinades, and waffle batter while George managed the day-to-day operations. The dynamic duo has created a taste sensation with wings, waffles, burgers, and more! But these are but the tip of the iceberg!

The no-frills building is ground zero for an array of wing combos, creative options like churro waffles, countless hot dog and chicken sandwiches, and burgers and cheesesteaks.

Its downtown location makes it idyllic for a meal after exploring the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame or the Birmingham Museum of Art. And with the convenience of ordering online, you can grab bags of deliciousness for a picnic at nearby Avondale Park.

The eatery's flavorful offerings go beyond wings and waffles, making it a popular choice, no matter the season.

Birmingham Wings & Waffles combines a no-frills approach with bold Southern hospitality, standout dishes, and friendly service to cement it as a must-visit stop in Birmingham.

Vibe

The small restaurant sits back off 6th Avenue and has ample parking. While its size makes finding it challenging, you can spot the fire-engine red color blocks away.

The sign and entrance are straightforward, but don't let such simplicity deceive you into thinking the food is mediocre. Instead, picture it as a beacon of comfort food!

Inside, the exterior's architectural style continues, with a simple counter, menu signage, and fluorescent lighting. While there is a dining area, it is small as most customers order pick-up. Several patio tables are outside during warmer months, making it an ideal dining spot before heading to the Alabama Theatre.

While it isn't large enough for large groups to dine at, its quaint and functional setting makes this ma-and-pa eatery a must for grab-and-go food.

Birmingham Wings & Waffles: Menu & Drinks

Before we shine a spotlight on the main attractions, the wings and waffles, let's meet some of the other cast members.

The hot dogs are all beef and showcase regional favorites. The Chicago has relish and mustard, while the Slaw Dog features Southern-style slaw. These are the perfect answers to a day exploring the Southern Museum of Flight.

Next up are the burgers and cheesesteaks. Whether you opt for a single or double patty, these handhelds are juicy and flavorful. The Plate is your answer if you are torn between a burger and wings. You get a cheeseburger, four wings, and fries.

The cheesesteaks feature griddle-cooked steak with onions, peppers, and cheese. Add a side of fries and a drink, and you have a hearty lunch or dinner.

Moving on to the stars of the show, one of the most popular orders is the 10-piece wing combo. Choose boneless or traditional wings and various house-made sauces for coating and dipping. Wings may be ordered separately from an order of six all the way to 100!

The deep-fried Belgian-style waffles are another hit, highlighting Jennifer's homemade batter. The Churro is a standout, covered in cinnamon sugar for the ultimate sweet tooth experience!

The menu includes other gems like the Sweet Home Alabama sandwich. This handheld features crispy fried chicken, spicy slaw, and honey BBQ sauce on a soft brioche bun. With one bite, you'll be singing the popular 1970s hit song!

While they don't serve any alcohol, the soft drinks, bottled water, lemonades, and teas will more than satisfy your thirst.

When craving authentic Southern comfort food in a casual, friendly setting, add Birmingham Wings & Waffles to your Magic City to-do list.
