About

"Let the Fun Be Gin" is not just a clever website mantra but is the passion behind the visionaries at Juniper. This Forest Park hotspot is more than a gin house. It features a refreshing garden and a botanical interior reminiscent of Victorian-era gin palaces.

Open since December 2021, it was founded by Blake Posey and Ali Randall, with Alden Williams designing the space. Its name, inspired by the juniper berry, reflects the bar's focus on gin-based creations.

Aside from cocktails, chef Thyme Randle's shareable New American dishes are available. While the menu is limited, the options are rich in flavor and creativity.

Juniper also made headlines by briefly operating an in-house café at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Additionally, the gin palace offers private events, perfect for special occasions and celebrations.

When your Alabama getaway needs a whimsical, magical, inspirational experience, discover it at Juniper.

Vibe

The entrance features clean, modern lines and subtle signage that blends with historic Forest Park.

Step inside, and the decor whisks you to a Victorian-era gin palace. Deep blue walls are an elegant backdrop for framed oil paintings, while the woodwork adds warmth and character.

A faux tree rises into the vaulted ceiling, while botanical touches here and there spark magic. The swing–a vintage loveseat suspended by ropes–adds to the festive atmosphere.

The vibe is hip, lively, and sophisticated, where you can unwind with cocktails after work, enjoy a romantic dinner, or kick off a night out with friends. While some would label the gin palace trendy, the atmosphere is welcoming.

During warmer months, the outdoor patio is the perfect al fresco spot. The setting is idyllic before or after a show at the Alabama Theatre.

Juniper sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience on your Birmingham adventure.

Juniper: Menu & Drinks

There's something for every diet, taste, and budget with the Happy Hour and main dining menu.

If you arrive before 6:00 PM, you can snack on lighter fare. The Bar Nuts are spiced with rosemary and honey, making them a go-to with any gin cocktail. It's a tasty way to celebrate a day exploring Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.

The fries are also delicious, cooked in herb oil with parmesan cheese and juniper drop sauce on the side. The fresh hummus has basil with Furikake sprinkled on top and comes with pita chips.

The Main menu showcases healthy choices, making them ideal for a snack or combined to share amongst friends.

The Beginnings are a prime example, with the Winter Caesar being a standout. The salad features vegan Caesar with nori, winter greens, yuzu, parmesan cheese, and chili peanuts. Combine the fries with chili, garlic, and aioli sauce, and you have a filling meal after hiking Oak Mountain State Park.

Moving on to the Plates, a crowd favorite is the Crab Cake. The meal features fresh, jumbo lump crab and comes golden and crispy. Salsa verde and simple salad make this a must-try, even for those who don't typically enjoy seafood.

The drink menu is as impressive as the food offerings. The star of the show is gin, and the mixologists at Juniper craft imaginative cocktails. A prime example is the Pinkie Promise, which has notes of tropical and herbal flavors. This libation showcases Genepy gin, light rum, coconut, pistachios, fresh limes, and house-made bitters.

Not a gin fan? No problem! You'll find a good selection of beer, wine, and other cocktails to peruse.

When compiling your Birmingham itinerary, Juniper needs to be on your list. It offers a vibrant ambiance, tasty fare, and inspirational cocktails to transform your vacation into the extraordinary.
