About
Fiddler's Restaurant is part of a local chain founded by the Young family, who have over 50 years of restaurant experience in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
In 2022, the Young family transformed a local Shoney's in Hillsville, VA into a Fiddler's Restaurant. They chose the name as a tip of the hat to The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail and the Galax Old Fiddler's Convention.
This family-friendly eatery is known for hearty breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and as a go-to for breakfast buffets and salad bars.
There is plenty of indoor seating for groups of all sizes. In addition, with abundant outdoor seats and a stage for live music, dining al fresco becomes more enticing. Connecting local musicians and history with visitors and locals is paramount at Fiddler's Restaurant.
Along with food, you'll find an area with gifts and souvenirs, perfect for mementos, thank-yous, or presents.
Add Fiddler's Restaurant in Hillsville to your vacation to-do list to enjoy Southern cuisine, local music, and history.
Vibe
When visiting Fiddler's, you'll quickly notice the wrap-around covered porch. This is perfect for dining outside when the weather is pleasant. Plus, the far end has an extended section where live music is performed regularly.
The recently remodeled facade has hints of the former Shoney's here and there. However, when you step inside, any lingering notions that it's the former restaurant disappear.
The layout features booths and tables, which are perfect for families or groups. But to be sure, the enormous food and salad bars are the room's focal point.
But what is captivating is a far wall with a black and white mural of the Blue Ridge adorned with vintage banjos, guitars, and mandolins.
As your eye sweeps the room, you'll find more and more homages to the area's rich musical history. The booths have privacy screens with musical notation, while every tabletop has laminated pictures and stories about regional musicians.
The inclusion of local music into Fiddler's Restaurant adds warmth to your dining experience. It's like meeting old friends and family members and learning details about their lives you never knew before.
This combination of historical charm, unique design, and homey atmosphere promises a memorable dining experience.
Fiddler's Restaurant: Menu & Drinks
Before we look at menu favorites, let's cut to the chase and discuss the all-you-can-eat buffet and salad bars. The breakfast buffet is ideal for families needing a wealth of options for picky eaters and those needing hearty meals before heading out to explore New River Trail State Park.
The salad bar is another appealing aspect, especially if you're a vegetarian, following a strict diet, or merely seeking healthy dining options.
When the buffets don't cut it, the menu has plenty of choices to peruse. The Fiddler's Grand Slam will energize you for any Blue Ridge Parkway adventure. This massive breakfast has two eggs cooked your way with crispy bacon or sausage, a short stack of pancakes, and breakfast potatoes.
Another must-try dish is the Pulled Pork BBQ. The meat is slow-cooked in-house for up to 18 hours, making the pork tender and juicy with the right amount of smokiness. The pulled pork comes with two hushpuppies and sides and promises to satisfy your appetite!
Sweet tooth lovers will marvel at the dessert menu, which includes choices like Old-Fashioned Apple Pie and Fiddler's Choice. This chocolate treasure trove features two Ghirardelli chocolate brownies, three scoops of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, bananas, strawberries, hot fudge, chocolate straws, and whipped cream!
Come for the food, the music, or the buffets, but either way, Fiddler's Restaurant will enrich your Blue Ridge Parkway vacation.
