Welcome to

Los Cabos

The southernmost point of the 760-mile stretch of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula sets the stage for what has become one of the country’s premier vacation destinations. The sun-drenched rocky desert landscape provides an epic window to where the Pacific Ocean meets up with the Sea of Cortez at Land’s End.

The history enveloping Los Cabos extends from the Pericu people thousands of years before the arrival of Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés. Its rich background includes stories of pirates and priests, as well as fishermen and surf havens. The 1730 Mission San Jose del Cabo Añuití, rebuilt in 1940, stands tall in the municipal seat and is a central part of traditional San Jose festivities each March.

Beyond the vast history of the region, Los Cabos has become a vacation mecca for people from across the globe. Travelers are drawn to the pleasant weather and beautiful beaches, principally from November through May. This coincides with whale watching opportunities in the cooler months. Higher temps are common from June to October, complemented by warmer waters and even more opportunities to surf. The warmer months also provide extended visibility for diving, attracting many to the nearby Cabo Pulmo National Park.

Whether seeking fun and sun along the festive sands of Cabo San Lucas, the relaxed cultural vibe of historic San Jose del Cabo, or adventure to the area’s East Cape, Los Cabos is an experience worth exploring time and again!

Frequently Asked Questions

Los Cabos is the name of the municipality at the southern tip of Baja California Sur. This includes the municipal seat of San José del Cabo, where the international airport is located, as well as lively Cabo San Lucas. The eastern part of the municipality, East Cape (Cabo del Este) is situated between the Gulf of California and the Laguna Sierra range.

Certain beaches in Los Cabos provide terrific spots for swimming or snorkeling, though strong wave action along much of the coast is more apt for surfers. Medano Beach in the center of Cabo San Lucas offers calmer waters, or take a boat to Lovers’ Beach on the way to the Arch to enjoy calmer waters. Near San José del Cabo, Playa Palmilla features the most swimmable option for many.

Los Cabos has some of the best surf breaks in Mexico. While the area has welcome surf spots year-round, the peak surf season is from May through October. Intermediate and advanced surfers can expect larger and warmer waves at spots including Monuments, Cerritos and Zippers. From November to April, Costa Azul and La Playita have smaller and cooler waves, which are just right for those signing up for a surf lesson to catch a Cabo wave.

If you want to be central to all the shops, restaurants, and action in Cabo, we recommend staying in the Medano area (Downtown).

We recommend staying near Zona Hotelera if you want convenience and centrality to all the action!

All Casago Vacation rental properties are kid-friendly. However, our vacation rental properties do not allow pets.

Fiesta de La Musica is annually held in downtown San Jose del Cabo in June. The Fiesta de Cabo San Lucas is a St. Luke’s Day celebration of dancing in the streets, music, and other events.

Festival de San Jose del Cabo is another religious festival held annually. Parties, music, a carnival, and parades are included in the festivities on several days in March.
