About

With over two miles of golden coastline, El Medano Beach is your go-to for lounging by the water, jet skiing, or sipping a margarita at a beachfront restaurant. As a cultural hub, there’s something for everyone.

Years back, El Medano Beach was where locals flocked to unwind and fishermen docked their boats. As Cabo San Lucas transformed into a vacation hotspot, this attraction held onto its local roots even as visitors worldwide added new layers of activity. Today, the sandy shores reflect the spirit of the city.

El Medano Beach boasts calm waves, thanks to the natural protection of the Land’s End cliffs. The serene water makes swimming safe for all ages and draws beach lovers as well as developers. Luxury hotels and restaurants now line the shore. It’s a place where everyone is welcome to soak up the sunshine, jump into the Gulf, or explore the vibrant boutiques. Its proximity to other attractions like Wild Canyon Adventures and Cabo del Sol Golf Club makes creating a versatile itinerary easy to plan.

Life is always moving at El Medano Beach, but it’s never rushed, making it the perfect addition to your Mexico getaway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Los Cabos is the name of the municipality at the southern tip of Baja California Sur. This includes the municipal seat of San José del Cabo, where the international airport is located, as well as lively Cabo San Lucas. The eastern part of the municipality, East Cape (Cabo del Este) is situated between the Gulf of California and the Laguna Sierra range.

Certain beaches in Los Cabos provide terrific spots for swimming or snorkeling, though strong wave action along much of the coast is more apt for surfers. Medano Beach in the center of Cabo San Lucas offers calmer waters, or take a boat to Lovers’ Beach on the way to the Arch to enjoy calmer waters. Near San José del Cabo, Playa Palmilla features the most swimmable option for many.

Los Cabos has some of the best surf breaks in Mexico. While the area has welcome surf spots year-round, the peak surf season is from May through October. Intermediate and advanced surfers can expect larger and warmer waves at spots including Monuments, Cerritos and Zippers. From November to April, Costa Azul and La Playita have smaller and cooler waves, which are just right for those signing up for a surf lesson to catch a Cabo wave.

If you want to be central to all the shops, restaurants, and action in Cabo, we recommend staying in the Medano area (Downtown).

We recommend staying near Zona Hotelera if you want convenience and centrality to all the action!
