About

Only steps away from Costa Azul Beach is Cynthia Fresh restaurant that serves made-to-order organic meals.

This quaint cafe was started by Chef Cynthia Haces Dávila, who first made a name for herself in Los Cabos with her farmers’ market pop-ups and brunches featuring local eggs, fragrant herbs, and Pacific-caught fish.

In 2017, the menu took on a more regular shape, offering rotating seasonal specials and local fishermen’s catch of the day. She opened her brick-and-mortar location, Cynthia Fresh, in 2018 and added shaded outdoor seating in 2021.

The menu is a fusion of California coastal cuisine with Baja staples. The salsas are bright, the marinades are full of citrus, and the flavors always let seafood and produce shine. Heavy techniques step aside for lighter methods such as grilling and quick searing. This cooking style suits the climate and appeals to those seeking a nourishing meal between beach adventures.

Best of all, Cynthia sources out all her ingredients from trusted San José del Cabo farmers and East Cape fishermen. The result is food that’s fresh, balanced, and a solid value.

With roots as a market pop-up and steady improvements over time, Cynthia Fresh remains the top pick for families, health-conscious diners, or anyone looking for great food in a relaxed setting.

Vibe

The charming eatery is in the contemporary shopping area known as Plaza Caracol. Here, the bright stucco walls, palms, and modern signage make it easy to spot. Umbrella-covered tables dot the front patio, offering a laid-back spot to enjoy Baja’s sunshine. The overall impression is casual, open, and true to the spirit of San José del Cabo.

Step inside, and a relaxed atmosphere sets in, perfect after a day on the waves with Del Cabo Surf. Light wood finishes, white walls, and natural textures create a fresh, breezy look. Handwritten menu boards and pastry cases give it a market-like charm, while potted plants bring the outdoors in.

There’s a dining space for every occasion. The aforementioned outdoor patio offers a breezy dining option, while two and four-top tables inside make it comfortable for couples, families, and groups. Shade, fans, or cross-breezes ensure that no matter where you sit, you’ll stay comfortable.

The flow from kitchen to table is smooth, so wait times are short, and there’s plenty of room for strollers or high chairs.

Dining at Cynthia Fresh is easygoing, sun-filled, and perfect for savoring your time between sightseeing.

Cynthia Fresh: Menu & Drinks

The menu’s combination of California-inspired offerings coupled with Mexican spices makes for healthy and light meals. Seasonal produce from nearby farms and off-the-boat seafood ensure you’re dining on the best of the Baja region.

Those who prefer seafood usually go for the tuna poke bowl. The tuna is always fresh, and the marinade never overpowers. Each serving comes on a bed of rice with cucumber, avocado, sesame, and a bright citrus-soy dressing. Add-ons like mango or extra greens make customizing simple. This dish travels well, making it perfect for a picnic at Plaza Mijares.

The grilled shrimp salad is a highlight and is known for being flavorful. Plump, fresh prawns come on a bed of mixed greens with a squeeze of lime. Topping it off are cherry tomatoes, crisp radish, and a house vinaigrette, making for a light but satisfying meal.

Regarding beverages, the house juice blends pineapple, cucumber, celery, and mint for a bright, refreshing drink. After exploring Misión San José del Cabo, let the Agua de Jamaica quench your thirst with its tart and vibrant flavors. For caffeine, the iced latte is smooth and well-crafted, while a made-to-order lemonade with fresh mint always sounds appealing in the Cabo sun.

At Cynthia Fresh, the local produce and fresh seafood shine. Whether for a relaxed lunch or fueling up between adventures, this organic restaurant will enhance your San José del Cabo vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Los Cabos is the name of the municipality at the southern tip of Baja California Sur. This includes the municipal seat of San José del Cabo, where the international airport is located, as well as lively Cabo San Lucas. The eastern part of the municipality, East Cape (Cabo del Este) is situated between the Gulf of California and the Laguna Sierra range.

Certain beaches in Los Cabos provide terrific spots for swimming or snorkeling, though strong wave action along much of the coast is more apt for surfers. Medano Beach in the center of Cabo San Lucas offers calmer waters, or take a boat to Lovers’ Beach on the way to the Arch to enjoy calmer waters. Near San José del Cabo, Playa Palmilla features the most swimmable option for many.

Los Cabos has some of the best surf breaks in Mexico. While the area has welcome surf spots year-round, the peak surf season is from May through October. Intermediate and advanced surfers can expect larger and warmer waves at spots including Monuments, Cerritos and Zippers. From November to April, Costa Azul and La Playita have smaller and cooler waves, which are just right for those signing up for a surf lesson to catch a Cabo wave.

If you want to be central to all the shops, restaurants, and action in Cabo, we recommend staying in the Medano area (Downtown).

We recommend staying near Zona Hotelera if you want convenience and centrality to all the action!

Festival de San Jose del Cabo is another religious festival held annually. Parties, music, a carnival, and parades are included in the festivities on several days in March.
