The tournament started in 2004 as the Signature Billfish Series, which transformed into the Signature Triple Crown a decade later. The Ladies Only tournament came into the mix in 2019. The Signature Triple Crown and the Ladies Only tournament are world-class angling events with Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast as the backdrop.
The Signature Triple Crown at Los Sueños takes place in three legs during January, February, and March each year. Each tournament section consists of three consecutive days of fishing. For over two decades, the thrilling tournament has reeled in competitors from the United States, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Brazil, and Russia.

Signature Triple Crown: Fun Facts & Cool Features
The family-oriented, friendly competition celebrates the sport of bill fishing while building traditions to pass on from generation to generation. At the event, anglers may catch fish within a 50-mile radius of Herradura Bay as per the catch and release rules for billfish in Costa Rica. The event also honors maritime traditions, high-tech fishing technology, and sustainable fishing practices.
Trophies are awarded to the top three boats for each leg of the Triple Crown. Participation is exclusive to vessels with a slip rental agreement with Los Sueños Marina and homeowners at Los Sueños Resort.
Culturally, the Signature Triple Crown boosts the local economy and puts Herradura on the map as a world-class fishing destination.
The Signature Triple Crown and Los Sueños are also proud of how they give back to the community of Herradura. The Los Sueños Foundation for Schools raises thousands of dollars for public elementary schools in the area. Angler competitors in the Triple Crown have also helped raise around $70,000 for the local Building Smiles Foundation!

- Head southwest on Route 34 (Costanera Sur) toward Herradura.
- Continue on Route 34 until you reach Herradura.
- Turn right onto Calle Herradura.
- Follow Calle Herradura until you arrive at Los Sueños Resort and Marina.
- Address: 200 Sur de la Escuela (200 meters south of the Pochotal School).
