About

While its name, Kind Coffee, could imply one-of-a-kind drinks, which it definitely delivers, it reflects its business model. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

The story of this local cafe begins in 1998 when Amy Hamrick opened the Estes Park Coffee Company. She started roasting coffee in a side room of Ed's Cantina on a small 5-pound Diedrich roaster. She turned out custom blends and specialty coffee drinks long before high-end coffee culture had taken root in the area. In essence, Hamrick was a pioneer.

By 2002, she rebranded as Kind Coffee, which gets us back to our intro. The new name reflected the company's values to be "kind" to the environment and community. Regarding these, Kind is known for its certified organic and fair-trade coffee, and giving back to the community.

In April 2023, longtime barista and general manager Kimi Nash purchased the business. She champions Kind Coffee's commitment to organic, fair-trade coffee, local art displays, supporting area nonprofits, and environmental causes, like 1% For the Planet.

The cafe's central location makes it easy to grab a cup of Java before a day of adventures. Since it opens at 6:30 AM daily, you can grab a coffee and a breakfast burrito to hit the Lake Estes Trail or hike to the River Walk Park before the crowds do!

Kind Coffee is more than just a coffee shop; it's a place where you can feel good by supporting the community and environment while enjoying a piping-hot cup of coffee!

Vibe

While the cafe is part of a strip mall, don't picture those typically found across America. Instead, envision something more like a custom motel painted in an earthy green color. This facility is home to several businesses, including Kind Coffee.

The cafe is also next door to the River Walk Park, while the Big Thompson River flows past the back. The setting makes for the ultimate Colorado coffee stop.

Step inside and discover a quaint ordering area with wooden accents, local artwork, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. There are a handful of two-top tables here, while an adjoining room offers booths and larger tables.

Adding to the Colorado vibe is the abundance of local artwork on display. These, along with the modern and rustic elements, create a vibe that's both eclectic and homey.

The outdoor seating offers a peaceful spot to sip your drink as the river gurgles past. In essence, the ambiance is exactly what you'd hope for on a Colorado vacation—relaxing, scenic, and full of good energy.

Kind Coffee: Menu & Drinks

While this spot is renowned for its coffee and specialty drinks, the food options are equally impressive.

One of the most popular items is the breakfast burrito, loved for its hearty, flavorful ingredients. Proteins include chorizo and bacon, while the veggie burrito is a favorite among those on a specific diet.

The oatmeal choices will energize you for your Estes Park Aerial Tramway adventure on Mount Prospect. The Mechanic features granola, cranberries, and seeds, while the Trailhead has brown sugar, raisins, and almonds. Best of all, you can create your own oatmeal for the ultimate breakfast start.

The Toasted Sandwiches come on either a bagel or a croissant, with various choices to please a wide range of tastes. The ice cream will satisfy your sweet tooth and is enjoyable on warm afternoons after a hike.

Now, let's explore the star of the show: the coffees and drinks! From organic drip roasts to hot chocolate and assorted teas, there's something for every age. The Alpine Miele Latte is a must-try, combining espresso with cinnamon, honey, and vanilla.

For something cold, you can't go wrong with the Nitro Cold Brew with its smooth and bold flavor. Additionally, there are lemonades, Italian sodas, and milkshakes!

Everything on the menu reflects Kind Coffee's commitment to quality and sustainability. Be sure to add this cafe to your itinerary and let it enhance your Estes Park trip.
