About

Murdochs is the best one-stop gift shop on the island! There is an overwhelming variety of decor, souvenirs, clothing, accessories, and other items available for purchase.

As one of the most historic buildings in Galveston, this establishments gets a ton of traffic. Additionally, it is situated on prime real estate along the Seawall. It's nearly impossible to miss this bright blue structure next door to the Pleasure Pier and other top hotspots. Oversized banners also hang on all main walls so you can easily find it.

There is a long and semi-steep ramp to enter on either end. The original building was constructed in the 1800s. However, due to multiple hurricanes, the establishments along the Seawall were especially devastated. Each time they were hit, they rebuilt. Today, it stands strong on stilts directly above the sand.

The Bar & Deck

Imagine sipping on one of your favorite beverages, relaxing in a chair and admiring the ocean. One of the best things about Murdochs is the deck located in the middle of the store. Before reaching the deck, you will find a quaint quick-service bar and snacks! They offer juices, soda, and other beverages. At the bar itself, you can grab a beer or one of the pre-mixed frozen cocktails. We recommend a strawberry daiquiri or margarita, they're so refreshing! Beside the bar, there are various other bottled alcoholic beverages to choose from including favorites from Seagram's. Further, there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverage for kids.

After you select a beverage and/or snack, step through the double doors behind the bar. You will find the most incredible views awaiting you. To the right, you can see the Pleasure Pier. To the left, stretches of ocean. There are oversized, comfortable chairs spaced out along the deck for your convenience. Also, there are a couple benches for groups.

Clothing & Accessories

Whether you're stopping in for a souvenir or just want to do some vacation shopping, you'll find all sorts of clothing here. From t-shirts to hats and flowing dresses, you will surely find something you like. They carry all sizes including kids clothing.

Along the walls, you can find hats hung up and sandals. Even though Murdochs is a large store, they fill up all the space. You could spend a whole hour browsing. If you experience an outfit emergency on the beach or lose a sandal to the ocean, this is your best bet at finding a replacement you enjoy right on the beach.

Trinkets

No matter what you collect, you're likely to find it here. Whether it be magnets, keychains, shot glasses, etc. One of the more unique items available for sale are gorgeous coral and shells. These would serve as peaceful, minimal, and beautiful reminders of your time on the island.

Decor

There are tons of home decor options for sale. They carry wine glasses, hangable signs, mugs, art, picture frames, and more. If you're looking for more eccentric or local art pieces, we recommend a visit to the Naked Mermaid shop on the Strand.
