About

Have you ever wanted to step through a wormhole and find yourself in the land of dinosaurs? Well, visitors to Shan-Gri-La Prehistoric Park, located in southern Henderson, Nevada, will do just that, stepping out of their car and into a different epoch—a land before man roamed the earth.

Traveling southwest on I-11, just as you reach the outskirts of Henderson and the greater Las Vegas area, visitors worldwide can find dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures of all shapes, sizes, and patterns! Over sixty dinos and other critters scatter the park, giving visitors a fun and educational look into the distant past.

With various games and other activities facilitated by the park's owner and operator," Dinoman" Steve Springer, it is a fun and educational destination for the whole family! Not only do the park's attractions include full-size statues and real fossils, but they come from all over the world, much like the park's 40,000 visitors every year.

Visitors can expect to see various critters and dinosaurs while at the exhibit. Everything from ice age creatures, like sabertooth tigers, to Jurassic reptiles, like triceratops and velociraptors. There are even some fantastical creatures, like dragons! The park's crown jewel, however, has to be Tex the T-Rex, which stands 14 feet tall and spans 27 feet, snout to tail. The exhibit is ever-changing, too, so be sure to visit whenever you find yourself in the area!

But that's not all! Kids can also take pictures on top of the giant tortoise, make wishes at the Magic Egg, and win fun prizes. If you want to escape all the hubbub surrounding modern life, head to Shan-Gri-La to step back into the past.

Fun Facts and Cool Features

While the creatures and critters that pack the park might be the initial draw, the Dinoman himself is the real gem. Dinoman Steve owns and operates the park and is constantly prowling the grounds. If you spot him, ask him any questions you might have or even for a personal tour if he isn't busy. He also has a small free gift for all visitors, which is doubled if you come in your favorite dino gear!

And while the Shan-Gri-La Prehistoric Park has fun events scheduled throughout the year, the most popular time to drop by is Halloween, where you can find much of the park dressed up for the occasion! Wear your favorite dino costume; you won't be alone!

On your Nevada vacation, visit where the dinos roamed at Shan-Gri-La Prehistoric Park! It's easy to let the imagination run wild in Nevada's great natural expanse!
