About

While its motto is "Born in Brooklyn," Patronies Pizza has grown into a Holden Beach favorite. This family-owned and operated pizzeria uses homemade crusts, quality ingredients, and bakes them on a stone in the oven to create mouth-watering pies.

Our story begins in 1999 in Apex, near Raleigh, when the Patrone family opened its restaurant. It was the same year the town was virtually shut down by a snowstorm. While other eateries closed due to the weather, Patronies Pizza kept its ovens going, serving pizzas to the community by candlelight. Such dedication made them local heroes!

Years later, the family wanted a change of pace and scenery. In 2007, they sold their Apex location and headed for the coast. They found a 130-year-old building in Holden Beach, rolled up their sleeves, and took on the renovations themselves.

After years of sweat equity, the new Patronies Pizza opened in August 2009. Word spread fast across the OBX about the pizzeria's tasty food, and in 2011, the family doubled the restaurant's seating and parking. The kitchen and storage grew in 2015 to keep up with demand, while the independent movie 8 Slices opened in 2017, further spreading its story far and wide.

Its location in Supply makes it easy to combine a tasty pie with any sightseeing itinerary. For instance, after cruising the waters on a Holden Beach Jet Ski Rentals, head to Patronie's to refuel. Or talk about your experiences at The Wild Horse Preserve at Grayce Wynds over crisp, handmade pizzas. The sky's the limit as far as what you can plan!

Whether you order pick-up to take back to your Casago rental, or dine in its eclectic ambiance, visiting Patronies Pizza is a rite of passage at Holden Beach.

Vibe

Arriving at Patronies Pizza, you'll be hard-pressed to see any signs that it's a 130-year-old building. The terracotta siding, quaint porch, and snow-white railing and trim give it a fresh and inviting look. While it's a one-story structure, the wheelchair ramp makes it accessible for everyone.

Inside, the vibe shifts to that of an old-school mercantile, with vintage memorabilia, signs, flags, and pictures. While the pizza is the main attraction, the eye-catching decorations will entertain for hours.

The 1960s diner-style red tables and chairs further add to this timeless atmosphere. These dot the dining room floor, making them ideal for families, couples, or large groups. Even the lighting, converted water buckets, adds a comedic touch to the room.

The eclectic decor adds another level of intrigue to this pizzeria, making it a must-visit when visiting the Outer Banks.

Patronies Pizza: Menu & Drinks

Before we explore the hand-tossed pizzas, let's explore the other options.

After working up an appetite exploring the Green Swamp Preserve, satisfy your hunger with the bone-in or out chicken wings. These come in various sizes, ranging from six to 36, and feature multiple sauces and rubs.

For a lighter meal, fresh-cut salads will hit the spot, such as the Italian salad. It features crisp romaine lettuce, red onions, black olives, banana peppers, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes. Add the Genoa salami, provolone cheese, croutons, and Balsamic Vinaigrette, and you have a healthy yet filling meal.

Pasta dishes, hero sandwiches, calzones, and appetizers make Patronie's Pizza the choice when your group is craving something other than a pie.

Speaking of pies, a unique flavor is the Hawaii 5-0 with pineapple, Canadian bacon, green peppers, and cheese. The ingredients strike just the right balance of sweet and savory.

A twist on a classic is the hot honey pepperoni, while the Philly CheeseSteak pushes the boundaries using American cheese, Provolone cheese, steak, mushrooms, green peppers, and onion.

Delicious desserts abound at Patronies, while if you crave homemade ice cream, Beaches-N-Cream is a short drive away.

Beverages range from an assortment of beer, wine, soft drinks, teas, and bottomless lemonade.

When visiting Holden Beach, a meal at Patronies Pizza becomes a highlight of your vacation. The friendly atmosphere, consistent quality, and menu options will have you coming back for more!
