About

Experience European flavors and cafe vibes on your Alabama getaway at Domaine South.

Kristian Denis started this exceptional restaurant in 2015 as a tiny wine shop with home goods and artisan crafts. After a few relocations and expansions, Domaine gained a loyal following and settled at Westside Square overlooking Big Spring International Park.

Kristian drew upon her European upbringing inspired by sidewalk cafes and vibrant culinary culture. This vision comes to life in a menu highlighting local farmers and seasonal ingredients. Adding to its prestige, the restaurant's wine program garnered the "Best of Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator in 2021, a testament to the expertise of its Wine Director, Hazel Sikorski.

Collaborating with Kristian is Executive Chef Corey Grothe, who has roots in New Orleans and France. His farm-to-table philosophy and passion for European-inspired cuisine shape the constantly evolving menu.

Along with wine tasting, stellar food, and a Euro-like vibe, Domaine South is close to Rocket City landmarks. Within walking distance are the Huntsville Museum of Art, the Weeden House Museum & Gardens, and the Von Braun Center, to name a few. Such convenience makes planning your sightseeing around farm-fresh meals easy.

From small plates, charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and stellar entrees, a unique dining experience awaits at Domaine South.

Vibe

While its corner location in a tall downtown building doesn't exude something from Paris, rest assured the interior will. You'll discover Bohemian style with soft, earthy tones and rich textures, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Features like exposed brick walls, copper-colored tin ceilings, and thoughtfully placed artwork transport you across The Pond to Europe. Unique light fixtures and boho-chic accents create a balanced sophistication that will make you feel at ease.

Its blend of European inspiration and local vibe makes this eatery suitable for casual lunches and romantic evenings. The dining areas offer varied experiences, including intimate interior seating, a stylish bar area, and outdoor tables perfect for al fresco dining.

Whether wine tasting with friends, indulging in a gourmet meal, or savoring a cocktail and enjoying the view, the atmosphere at Domaine South will elevate your Huntsville vacation.

Domaine South: Menu & Drinks

The charcuterie boards are standouts and offer Old World delicacies. Be prepared to be amazed at choices like smoked duck breast, Armenian-style lamb, and smoked salami. Add the artisanal cheeses, fresh fruit, and house-made crostini, and you can understand why many guests order several and combine them into a shareable meal.

Chef Grothe flexes his New Orleans influence with the Gulf Shrimp and Grits. This Southern staple features seared Royal Red shrimp with creamy Bucksnort Miller stone ground grits and Louisiana Andouille. The savory crawfish gravy unites the textures and flavors for a mind-blowing experience.

The menu is jam-packed with delicious options, ensuring something for the pickiest diner and those with dietary concerns. Salads are abundant, as are sandwiches like a Reuben, tuna melt, BLT, and even a cheeseburger. Remember that Chef Grothe adds his creative touch, making these iconic sandwiches anything but ordinary.

As mentioned, Domaine South is your go-to for bottled wine and wine tasting. Like the menu, the Bottle List ebbs and flows with the seasons and the discovery of new vintages.

Craft cocktails like the Horsefeather are a top draw and feature rye whiskey with ginger beer and bitters. Another must-try is the Cappelletti Spritz, a vibrant concoction of Cappelletti Aperitivo and sparkling wine.

With its farm-to-table menu, European and Southern influences, and proximity to attractions like Earlyworks Children's Museum and Alabama Constitutional Hall, Domaine South offers a dining experience that is as memorable as the city itself.
