About

What began as a food truck dishing out delicious grilled cheese sandwiches blossomed into the brick-and-mortar known as Melt Huntsville.

Co-founded by Harriet Despinakis and Paget Pizitz, Melt's story began in 2012 with an ambitious food truck named Matilda. Specializing in grilled cheese creations, it gained popularity, prompting the dynamic duo to open the Avondale location in 2014.

This eatery takes classic comfort foods and adds a modern twist, creating food that, dare we say, melts the heart and taste buds.

With its blend of inviting charm and urban energy, the Huntsville spot brought a distinct personality to the brand while maintaining its core values. Unique offerings like gluten-free and vegan options complemented the hearty lineup of grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, and loaded appetizers, catering to a wide array of diners.

The atmosphere also sets this dining hotspot apart from its competitors. The welcoming space is ideal for families, friends, and food lovers of all ages.

Adding to its allure is that this community-driven restaurant is near some of Huntsville's top attractions, making it easy to combine sightseeing with a meal. For instance, after exploring the Huntsville Museum of Art at the Big Spring International Park, take a short walk to Melt for lunch or dinner.

Whether you're stopping by for a classic grilled cheese or exploring creative offerings, Melt Huntsville offers a fantastic dining experience.

Vibe

The inviting brick exterior features an outdoor patio with ping-pong tables and a roll-up garage-style door. The result is an airy, flexible dining space.

Step inside and discover a creative mix of industrial and rustic design elements. Reclaimed wood panels line the walls, warmly contrasting the polished cement floors. The open ceiling and exposed painted ductwork add an industrial feel to the room.

You'll find the atmosphere appealing, as it balances the hustle of downtown with a family-friendly vibe. It's the place to unwind with friends, have a working lunch, or catch a game on the flatscreen TV.

The dining areas include a mix of traditional tables, high pub seating, and outside picnic tables. When temperatures are moderate, the garage doors are open, creating an outdoor vibe indoors.

Like the food, the atmosphere is comforting, making Melt Huntsville perfect for your Huntsville vacation.

Melt Huntsville: Menu & Drinks

What you'll find appealing is the diverse menu offering a little bit of this and some of that. So, let's explore the options to give you an idea of what we mean.

The mac and cheese egg rolls are Shareables that will set your dining experience on the right foot. Inside a crispy egg roll is the gooey, cheesy noodles. This decadent appetizer comes with a sweet chili glaze for dipping.

A favorite from the Get Toasty menu section is the chicken pesto sandwich. It is made with tender grilled chicken, gooey mozzarella, and vibrant basil pesto and comes on freshly toasted sourdough. Add the kettle chips, tots, beer-battered fries, or cucumber tomato salad, and you have a soul-satisfying meal.

Salads are abundant, like the Strawberry Fields Salad. This healthy meal features mixed greens, fresh strawberries, red onions, toasted pecans, golden raisins, and goat cheese. The balsamic glaze unites the flavors and textures for a marvelous finish. If you need protein, add chicken, bacon, or chicken salad for an additional cost.

Your children have plenty to peruse in the For the Kiddos menu section. After they burn calories at the Earlyworks Children's Museum, a grilled cheese, chicken fingers, cheeseburger, mac and cheese, or quesadilla will hit the spot!

With a full bar, your craft cocktail or beer is close at hand. The Irish mule is a refreshing classic with a bold twist, made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, ginger beer, and lime. It's a refreshing finish after a day walking the Weeden House Museum & Gardens.

Whether you stop for lunch or a laid-back dinner, Melt Huntsville will add comfort to your dining experience.
