About

If you’re looking to get away from the tourist traps of the Grand Strand and escape into nature, then there’s no better place than Myrtle Beach State Park. Here, you’ll breathe fresh salt air and enjoy the call of the wild without the crowds!

Perched along one solid mile of Horry County beachfront, Myrtle Beach State Park remains the only place in the area to unplug and enjoy undeveloped nature.

Are you looking to get a little fishing in on your vacation? There’s a fishing pier at Myrtle Beach State Park where you can fish and crab.

You’ll find various species like flounder, king mackerel, whiting, trout, spots, Spanish mackerel, drum, and blues. And the good news is you won’t need a fishing license to fish off the pier!

Myrtle Beach State Park is home to many animals, too! Depending on when you visit, you might see nesting loggerhead sea turtles, bald eagles, least terns, and various neotropical migrant birds.

If you’re more interested in flora than fauna, Myrtle Beach State Park’s maritime forest is a Heritage Trust site! You’ll discover live oak and southern magnolias while strolling the trails and the beautiful white atamasco-lily.

Hiking toward the ocean, you’ll come across sea dunes and sea oats. The maritime grassland really shines in the fall months!

The park opens daily at 6 am, and the office opens at 9 am. The park closes based on season, so check the website for updated hours! Maps are available online or at the park office.
