When Shabu opened its doors in 2004, it took Park City by storm! Featuring what it calls "freestyle Asian cuisine," the eatery has a moody, intimate environment.
Bob and Kevin Valaika are the twin brothers behind this must-visit eatery. Bob is the Executive Chef who, after culinary school, was trained by Japanese master Nobu Matsuhisa in the art of creating sushi, noodles, and traditional dishes. With Kevin as General Manager, the brothers bring their playful personalities to work, making the atmosphere upbeat and playful.

Vibe
While their entrance may be easy to miss, there's no mistaking the vibe once you open the front door! You'll descend steep stairs, giving Shabu an almost speak-easy-like feel. The crimson walls' mish-mash of pictures and art set the tone for your dining experience.
The host stand is to the left at the bottom, where you can check-in. The quaint dining area has narrow tables and booths to use the limited space. Keep this in mind when making reservations for large groups.
As we've hinted, the decor differs from that of most Asian-inspired restaurants. Because the dining room is below street level, the ceiling is low and not vaulted. Additionally, you won't find Eastern pictures or art in the room. Instead, Sultronic's art pieces cover the walls and perfectly fit this whimsical, "freestyle" decor.
