About

Yuki Yama Sushi is one restaurant to add to your Park City getaway that will amaze your tastebuds. While top-rated sushi isn't something you might expect in the middle of Utah, this restaurant delivers. One reason for such notoriety is they source fresh, seasonal fish worldwide to craft traditional Japanese sushi, noodle plates, hot dishes, and creative sashimi plates. And if this isn't enough to believe Yuki Yama is the real deal, reservations during high season can be out as far as 60 days!

While fresh fish is paramount to delicious sushi, a top-notch chef is also required. Enter Chef Kirk Terashima, who teamed up with manager Matt Baydala. This dynamic duo transformed a dying sushi spot, Yuki Arashi, into not only a superb restaurant in Park City but also in all of Utah!

Chef Terashima's skills go beyond Hira-zukuri with a sashimi knife. His passion for presenting cuisine in an artful style and his creative spins on classic rolls are exemplary. Aside from stellar sushi, you'll discover an abundant selection of specialty sakes, unique wines, craft cocktails, and imported Japanese whiskeys and beers.

The eatery's location on Park City Main Street Historic District makes it easy to visit the Park City Museum and then have a celebratory meal at Yuki Yama Sushi.

Be sure to add this quaint eatery to your dining to-do list! You won't be disappointed.

Vibe

The restaurant's exterior is unassuming, but if you step inside, you'll feel like you're in the heart of Tokyo. The narrow room limits seating, but the sushi bar counter is a go-to for solo diners and couples curious to watch the chefs at work. Other dining areas include the first floor, a tatami room, and an upstairs dining room.

The environment blends wood, light, and stone into a festive ambiance. The decor is simple yet elegant, formal yet comfortable. Signature elements include a 40 x 12 ft. stone slate wall, Japanese paintings, and ornamental light fixtures, all of which enhance your dining experience.

The tables are natural-looking, with swirls of grain that resemble the rings of a large, ancient tree trunk. The overall atmosphere exudes Japanese qualities that make for an amazing dining experience.

Yuki Yama Sushi: Menu & Drinks

Now, let's dive deeper into a cuisine heralded as the best sushi in Utah! Start your dining adventure with the Crispy Tuna Tartare. The succulent tuna is seasoned in a housemade spicy marinade and presented with crispy rice, shiso, tobiko, avocado, and sweet soy sauce. The presentation is visually stunning, making your dining experience a treat for all the senses.

Moving on to the hot plate options, a must-try that guests rave about is the Wagyu Beef Tataki. Chefs slice the wagyu into thin strips that guests cook on a sizzling hunk of Himalayan sea salt. Dipping sauces include cilantro with red pepper and citrus soy to add the right amount of seasoning to the beef.

An example of a meal for those with dietary concerns is Vegetarian Ramen. This hearty meal features housemade vegetarian broth with green onions, braised daikon, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, and a poached egg. For those on a gluten-free diet, consider a kama selection like Hamachi.

The nigiri and sashimi choices are impressive and showcase Chef Terashima's creativity and skills. The Madai Nigiri features two pieces of red snapper, shiso, and ponzu. A top sashimi pick is the Hotategai Sashimi with fresh scallops and yuzu salt. These are perfect after a day of adventure at Deer Creek State Park.

While the restaurant has plenty of non-alcoholic beverages to peruse, their sake and Japanese whiskey list is impressive. They have limited available sake and cup, carafe, and premium sake. A top-shelf whiskey to try is the Yamazaki 12 Year. The single malt combines American oak, Spanish sherry oak, and Mizunara casks and has a pure gold color with complex notes. Yuki Yama also serves beer, wine, and craft cocktails.

On your vacation out West, add sushi from the East to spice up your Park City visit.
