What's a recommended itinerary when visiting the Redwoods in California?

What does a typical itinerary here look like?

In Arcata, spend the day visiting the Redwood National Forest and the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary. Stop by Wildberries Marketplace to stock up on high quality, organic produce or groceries. Then, grab a smoothie or fresh-pressed juice on your way out. Spend some time walking around Arcata plaza for lunch or shopping. Enjoy a candle-lit dinner at the elegant restaurant Campground. Lastly, top it off with some fresh pie at Slice of Humboldt Pie.

On another day, spend your time roaming the grounds and meeting the animals at the Sequoia Park Zoo. This family-friendly activity offers a unique variety of animals and experiences you won’t forget. They’re famous for their new Redwood Canopy Walk which allows you to walk on bridges surrounded by the Redwood Trees. There’s also a petting zoo and kids area. It’s affordable and definitely worth the visit!

From Arcata, the drive to Trinidad is about 20 minutes or so. Take the Scenic Highway there to drive along the unmatched coast. This drive will give you the best of both worlds - driving through peaceful tree-lined highways and the beaches of Trinidad. There are plenty of stops along the drive to take in the views or take photos. When you arrive in Trinidad, stop by Windansea for special souvenirs. Then, enjoy lunch at the Trinidad Bay Eatery and Gallery. This is a local favorite! Trinidad has just over 200 residents, so this is the ideal escape to nature. Make your way to Trinidad State Beach to walk along the shore at Sunset with the waves crashing behind you.
