About

Welcome to the Big Blue Cafe, a local favorite for breakfast, brunch, and beverages! Created with the mission of serving the most delicious food using only the best ingredients. Everything here is made-from-scratch.

Where is Big Blue Cafe located?

You'll find the Big Blue Cafe in the heart of Arcata - the Arcata Plaza. The plaza itself is lined with plentiful restaurants and shops, but you'll spot the Big Blue Cafe by its (no surprise) blue walls and signs! This cozy cafe will catch your eye in the midst of all the happenings of the Arcata Plaza.

There are many parking spots lining the plaza, you shouldn't have any trouble parking unless the Saturday morning Arcata Farmer's Market is taking place.

Inside, the restaurant is small, but bigger than you might expect from the exterior. There is plenty of seating inside with a couple of tables outside as well. Typically there is no wait to be seated. However, if you go during peak breakfast/brunch times such as Saturday or Sunday morning, you may have a short wait of 10-15 minutes.

What's good at the Big Blue Cafe:

They are famous for their buttermilk pancakes, french toast, breakfast burrito, and biscuits & gravy. No matter what you order here, you're guaranteed only the best ingredients! Most ingredients are made in house, but the few items they do outsource come from the the highest quality sources.

Breakfast

Everything you could crave for breakfast is right here on the menu. Feeling sweet, savory, or a little bit of both? There are many options no matter what.

Pancakes and French Toast

The pancakes and french toast here are a must-try! Delicious, melt in your mouth buttermilk pancakes come with all your favorite toppings of choice. The freshly battered French toast is also a crowd-favorite. We recommend ordering "the works" with your meal. This means that your dish comes with the following toppings - bananas, blueberries, almonds or walnuts, and organic raisins.

Breakfast Burrito

If you're feeling really hungry, you can't go wrong with their popular, loaded breakfast burrito! Inside a warm tortilla, you'll find a generous portion of eggs, potatoes, cheese, peppers, and beans. Further, on top you'll get cheese, salsa, and sour cream!

In addition, you can make this dish vegan by substituting with guacamole and tofu scramble.

Brunch

Though breakfast items are their forte, the Big Blue Cafe is also known for many of their lunch-time specialties. Choose from a variety of handhelds including French dip sandwiches, a BLT, or even a Ginger Garlic Roast Beef sandwich.

Additionally, they have less filling options if you aren't looking for a hearty sandwich. This includes various soups and salads - you can even make your own combo!

Beverages

What's a cafe without all the delicious beverages?

The Big Blue Cafe is proud to serve only the highest quality coffee using their own blend at their fully organic espresso bar. The bar offers mochas, americanos, cappuccinos, lattes, and more.

If coffee isn't your thing, don't worry! They have plenty of juices and tea options. Choose from hot cocoa, sweet chai tea lattes, or cranberry juice. Further, they even carry mimosas and beer!
