About

When people visit Penasco, visions of shrimp and Margaritas dance in their heads. Because they’re both fantastic here! On the other hand, if you are feeling more Bohemian than Beach Bum, try El Tapeo. It’s like a trip to the Valle Guadalupe area in Baja, famous for its vineyards. Lots of great Mexican and Chilean wines are on the menu. Keep an eye out and you may find a weekend when a representative of one of Mexico’s fine vineyards visits for a wine tasting before a relaxing evening at your private beachfront villa.

During the early evening, this restaurant offers a relaxing, rustic ambiance with ocean views. Old barrels, rustic wood tables, and string lights overhead and lots of candles make for the perfect setting to savor a glass of wine on a cool night. But, this restaurant transforms later at night. In the later evening, when the sun goes down, it's a lively restaurant and venue with music, wine, and dancing! What more could you ask for?

For food, El Tapeo serves up Tapas. These Spanish-style appetizers are intense in flavor, featuring quality, real artisanal ingredients. There are charcuterie style boards with fine cheeses, olives, fruit and deli meat. Also, mushrooms stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes and bacon, mini pizzas, baked goat cheese-stuffed dates, and more.

If wine is not your thing, try the house premium Mexican micro-brew beer. It is called Cachorro, and is exceptionally tasty. The IPA with a hint of Orange is so tasty! El Tapeo is a good example of the variety you now find in Rocky Point Mexico Restaurants.

What to Try at El Tapeo

Mushroom or Asparagus Crostini

Crostini is sliced, crunchy French bread. Asparagus Crostini features the asparagus that grows in the fields to the east of Rocky Point near the farming community of Caborca. It is the best you can get anywhere. Similarly, many of the olives you find on the menu are grown there as well. Here, the asparagus is sauteed in white wine, then set on top of the bread accompanied by bacon, bell peppers, and artichoke spread.

Pizzeta

A diminutive pizza baked with unique toppings. Try the Genesis covered with creamy artichoke sauce, mushrooms, onions and prosciutto. Or the Grape with prosciutto, grapes, serrano chile, dates and feta cheese. Go all in with the Supreme, which combines chorizo, onions, serrano chiles, black olives, mushrooms, pepperoni, salami, and bacon.

Dates MM

For a taste of something sweet, opt for the Dates MM. The dates are slow cooked in Merlot win and Mebac wine, stuffed with goat cheese, and then wrapped with bacon.

We can undoubtedly recommend El Tapeo for an amazing meal in Puerto Penasco. Whether you spent the day relaxing on the beach or mini golfing, El Tapeo is a perfect option for a delicious meal!
