Pet Friendly
Those wishing to visit Mexico’s beautiful coastline do not need to leave Fido in a kennel back home. There are pet-friendly vacation rentals in Puerto Penasco (aka Rocky Point).
Casago Vacation Rentals has excellent three and four-bedroom homes that can accommodate your entire family, including your furry member. Some sit on the water while others are in developments, but all are close to the beach. That makes for a perfect vacation spot!
Rocky Point itself is a prime area to vacation. This small fishing village is located on the Sea of Cortez north shore along the Gulf of California. While Rocky Point is the American name of the city, the Spanish name is Puerto Penasco. It is in Mexico’s state of Sonora, making it super convenient for those living in Arizona to travel.
The Rocky Point pet friendly atmosphere extends beyond your housing accommodations. You can take your dog to the beach anytime because the city has no restrictions for pets on the beach. Your pet, especially dogs, will love the white sandy beaches and will be fascinated by the waves and wildlife. It may be best to keep your pet on a leash, unless he is well trained not to flee after things that interest him.
It is worth the extra effort to bring your dog to the Rocky Point pet friendly areas. The weather fluctuates between 50 and 100 degrees, depending on the season. While it is a desert, it does have ocean breezes. There are always things to do like Carnaval in February, the South of the Border Festival in May and the Race Car Experience in June. You will need to check with individual events to see if they allow pets.
Pet Permits
There are some things to know about bringing pets across the Mexican border. You can bring up to three dogs without any additional fees. Those bring more than three dogs will need to buy a permit for around 1817 pesos. The permit fee is subject to change. You will also need to bring a document, such as a vaccination card, proving they have had their rabies shots. There are some additional rules for re-entry with your pooch into the United States. The vaccination document must identify your dog, the date of the vaccinations and be signed by your veterinarian. The vaccination date must be at least 30 days prior to re-entering the U.S.
Mexico allows transport of other types of animals, such as cats and birds, but those fall under different rules.
Casago has the right rental for you and your pet. Since 2001, it has been rated as the top accommodation in Mexico for guest and owner satisfaction and all properties have a certified 5-star rating system. That makes for a great experience for you and your pet!
