What do you get when you combine a wood-fired pizza food truck with chefs who incorporate Latin and Korean flavors? The answer: Big Bon Bodega!
Our journey started in 2016 when Kay Heritage opened her food truck, Big Bon Pizza, specializing in her mouth-watering pizzas. Success led to her opening a brick-and-mortar in 2019, Big Bon Bodega. Here, her menu expanded to include NY-style bagels, deli sandwiches, and other tasty offerings highlighting her Korean heritage.
In 2023, Kay asked Shahin Afsharian to join the team. The esteemed Savannah-based chef combined his Mexican roots and love for international fare to the menu. Together, they have transformed Big Bon Bodega into a dining hotspot, celebrating diverse flavors and unique offerings.
Because the eatery opens early for breakfast, it's the ideal destination to pick up a bagel sandwich before sightseeing. Whether exploring the Savannah Historic District or on your way to check out the Pin Point Heritage Museum or Skidaway Island State Park, a hearty breakfast or lunch is never too far away.

Vibe
Located in the charming neighborhood of Thomas Square, the all-white stucco exterior is an oasis amidst the surrounding brick buildings. The refurbished gas station features large picture windows and repurposed garage doors, creating an inviting setting. Add the vibrant signage, lush greenery, and umbrella-covered picnic tables, and you have a homey atmosphere.
The renovated inside transports diners to a vivid and lively atmosphere. With plenty of windows, natural light floods the room, adding natural warmth to the room. Contemporary light fixtures, counter space, and dining tables add a modern touch. Capping it off are the minimal pictures dotting the walls, adding the right amount of color. Of note is the autographed photo of Guy Fieri above the front door.
While the indoor dining area is welcoming, most diners flock to the patio's picnic tables. Here, the al fresco seating area offers a shaded retreat, ideal for relaxing or taking in the charming neighborhood.

Big Bon Bodega: Menu & Drinks
Let's start with a bagel sandwich that was Guy Fieri's favorite: The Korean Mama. This hefty handheld features bulgogi beef, kimchi spread, pickled red onion, American cheese, and pimento-cheddar cream cheese. Pile this mound of deliciousness on a toasted, house-made sesame seed bagel, and you'll discover why not only Guy gave it a thumbs up but others, too!
Another rave is the Savannah 912, an everything bagel featuring bacon, homestyle egg, American and cheddar cheese, and herbed butter. It's a hearty and satisfying choice that captures the essence of Southern comfort food.
In case you were wondering if Kay abandoned her start as a pizza vendor, rest assured, she hasn't. You'll find 6" x 6"personal pizzas, like the Spicy Bee, that'll dazzle your taste buds. This individual pie features cupped pepperoni, crushed red pepper, red onion, parmesan cheese, and a cheese blend. But the crowning touch is the locally sourced hot honey, which adds the perfect amount of sweet to the heat.
Java lovers will appreciate the diverse options for their morning caffeine fixes. A standout is the Honey Bear Latte with local honey, cinnamon, espresso, vanilla, and oat milk. Order one iced for an afternoon pick-me-up. You'll also find lemonades, teas, matcha, and refreshers, ensuring something for everyone.
