About

Robyn and Michele Quattlebaum had a dream: to serve made-from-scratch food in a relaxing atmosphere. Their vision became a reality in 2001 when they opened Driftaway Cafe in the quaint Sandfly neighborhood.

Aside from mouth-watering food, the couple combines other passions and skills to make the eatery unique. Robyn believes nothing beats live music, so you’ll hear the area’s best at the cafe.

Michele, dubbed the “plant whisperer,” adds her touch to the spacious deck and interior layout. Her efforts take center stage in the back patio area, where a jungle oasis awaits.

The menu features fresh and flavorful coastal cuisine, making it a go-to destination for both locals and vacationers alike. The restaurant sources fresh, locally sourced seafood and produce, ensuring every dish represents the region.

The nautical decor, various dining areas, and chill vibe make it ideal for families, romantic dates, and casual gatherings. Its proximity to Skidaway Island State Park and Wormsloe State Historic Site makes it convenient to combine a meal after sightseeing.

With its laid-back charm, succulent seafood, and live music, visiting Driftaway Cafe is a must on your Georgia getaway.

Vibe

When you park at the restaurant, the peaceful patio, seafoam blue facade, and massive shark on the roof are your clues to a delightful atmosphere.

Once inside, the decor strikes a balance between nautical touches and Southern comfort, with a light, airy interior featuring wood accents, greenery, and a mix of seating options.

The diverse dining areas make it easy to find the ideal atmosphere for your meal. Grab an indoor booth or table with white linens for a refined dining experience. The covered decks will appeal to lively groups or those traveling with children, while the bar is perfect for those seeking a fun-filled night out.

The music features solo singers strumming a guitar and the occasional band. Such variety adds to the dining experience.

Whether stopping on your way back from Tybee Island or exploring eateries beyond the Savannah Historic District, this restaurant’s vibe lives up to its name.

Driftaway Cafe: Menu & Drinks

While the menu features fresh fish and seafood, the salads, steaks, and chicken entrees ensure something for everyone.

Kickstart your lunch or dinner with the Tuna Nibbles. This creative appetizer features fresh tuna that is either blackened, grilled, or in Jamaican Jerk spices. It comes on a bed of cucumber wasabi sauce with mango salsa on the side.

The sandwiches and tacos are another popular section of the menu and come with French fries, home-cooked chips, potato salad, or coleslaw. These range from a Reuben to fried shrimp and fish and chips, as well as the All-American burger featuring 8 oz of Angus beef. Any of these handhelds are perfect for enjoying after exploring the Tybee Island Light Station & Museum.

When it’s time for dinner, the entrees will satisfy any hunger and palate. The grilled Blueberry Salmon is on point and comes on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes with butter-grilled asparagus with goat cheese. Tying this savory dish together is the blueberry lemon reduction, making it colorful and flavorful.

The Pastafarian features either chicken, scallops, or shrimp on a bed of pasta with caramelized onions and green and red peppers. The Cajun-style cream sauce adds the right amount of spiciness to this popular feast.

The brunch menu reads like a who’s who of comfort foods! The chicken biscuit, Jamaican French toast, shrimp and grits, and the Crab Cake Benedict are prime examples.

Beyond food, Driftaway Cafe is your go-to for signature cocktails! The Rum Runner features Bacardi dark and silver rum, pineapple and orange juice, grenadine, and a lime wedge.

Beer and wine lovers will appreciate the options and varieties, making it easy to pair a beverage with your meal.
