About

Considered the most authentic British Pub in Georgia, Six Pence Pub offers cold pints and tasty fare in the Savannah Historic District.

Wally and Doris from Manchester, England, opened "Wally's Sixpence" in 1984 to offer a realistic British pub experience to Savannahians. In 1999, the couple passed the baton to a family who renovated the interior and revised the menu. The result is an eatery with a unique blend of history, hospitality, and hearty fare.

Six Pence Pub is like a time portal to a centuries-old English establishment. Complete with the red telephone booth on its corner, you'll swear you're deep in the heart of the United Kingdom.

Its appearance in films adds more allure to this Savannah eatery. The pub was the backdrop in the 1995 romantic comedy Something to Talk About. The scene featured Julia Roberts discovering her husband, played by Dennis Quaid, with another woman.

Aside from its connection to Hollywood, the pub is smack dab in the heart of Savannah's key landmarks. Within walking distance are The Old Sorrel-Weed House Museum, Telfair Museums, Mercer Williams House Museum, and Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Such convenience makes grabbing a pint and some shepherd's pie after exploring easy to schedule.

Six Pence Pub is a welcoming watering hole, offering homestyle British and American comfort foods. With its rich history and proximity to historical landmarks, adding it to your vacation itinerary is a must.

Vibe

This restaurant is easy to spot from blocks away. Aside from the iconic British red telephone booth, flags representing the United Kingdom and the United States protrude over the entrance. Add the classic green facade with vintage gold leaf highlights, and you know you're about to experience the Real McCoy.

Inside, the authenticity continues, with a silver-tin ceiling, additional flags, and British photos and memorabilia. Hardwood floors complement antique-style fixtures, making for an immersive pub experience. The wooden barstools, cushioned booths, and stained-glass windows create a warm, nostalgic vibe.

The dining areas cater to various preferences, with bar seating providing a robust experience, while booth and table seating provide cozy dining spots. On pleasant days, the outdoor patio is inviting, combining fresh air with the pub's charm.

Six Pence Pub: Menu & Drinks

What makes the menu enticing is its mesh of British and American staples, ensuring something for everyone in your crew.

A standout is the Shepherd's Pie, also known as Cottage Pie. This iconic comfort meal features ground beef, peas, carrots, and onions in a savory brown sauce. Crowning this delicious stew are mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese. Add the salad of crisp greens, cucumber, onion, tomato, and cheese, and you have an authentic pub meal.

Another favorite is the Fish and Chips, a classic with flaky cod in a crispy golden batter. It comes with thick-cut fries and homemade tartar sauce, although malt vinegar is readily available.

For those seeking something lighter, consider the Ploughman's Lunch. It comes with crusty French bread, soup, salad, a wedge of cheddar, a pickled onion, and a Branston pickle. Another popular choice is the Chefs' Salad, featuring crisp salad greens, turkey, ham, cheese, eggs, cucumber, tomato, and onion.

The drink menu is equally enticing, showcasing various British imports and house specialties. A must-try is the expertly poured pint of Guinness, while the Irish whiskey, single malt Scotch, and top-shelf bourbons are perfect for sipping.

Craft cocktails are on point, with the Pimm's Cup standing out as a refreshing highlight. Packed with fruit and vibrant flavors, it captures the lighthearted spirit of the pub's ambiance.

Six Pence Pub serves world-class food and beverages, making it a must-visit on any Georgia vacation itinerary.
