About
When your taste buds crave Asian-inspired flavors, head to The Vault Kitchen & Market. Located in the artistic Starland District, it opened in 2016 in a former Bank of America.
The financial institution had served the community for over 50 years, and Ele Tran and her Rhino Hospitality Group recognized its potential and seized the opportunity. The company breathed new life into the historic building.
As the saying goes, this was not their first rodeo. The management group oversees eleven Asian-inspired restaurants in the area, including Little Duck Diner, Flying Monk Noodle Bar, Coco & Moss, Le Banh Cafe, and Fire Street Food, among others.
Retaining elements of its bank origins, the structure showcases an industrial-chic aesthetic that balances history with stylish modernity. Even its name, “The Vault,” pays homage to the building’s heritage.
Like the bank that was vital to the community, The Vault is an integral part of the neighborhood. It’s a gathering place where an exceptional dining experience and ambiance connect stories.
Speaking of cuisine, the creative menu combines Asian fusion dishes with local ingredients, appealing to food lovers, families, and visitors alike.
Its proximity to the Savannah Historic District makes it the ideal spot to grab lunch or dinner after sightseeing. For example, after exploring the exhibits at the Telfair Museums or visiting the fountain at Forsyth Park, you’re never far from fresh sushi or curry shrimp.
Its innovative fare and chic setting make it a must when visiting Savannah.
Vibe
The exterior retains the commanding presence of a mid-century American bank. The Ionic-style columns, impressive façade, and large picture windows are clues to its financial past.
While the cuisine is Asian, the decor blends industrial design with American contemporary elements. High ceilings with exposed ductwork meet refurbished wood walls, modern art, and metal accents.
An eye-catching element is the former vault, its massive door open to another area of the eatery—just one more reminder of its former role as a bank.
The open concept brings energy to the room, while the various dining areas provide unique atmospheres.
Seating options range from intimate tables and booths to a buzzing bar area with comfortable stools. Outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying Savannah’s mild weather. No matter where you dine, you’ll find the ambiance suits any occasion.
Whether capping off a fun-filled day on Tybee Island or celebrating a milestone, the atmosphere at The Vault Kitchen & Market will enhance any Savannah vacation.
The Vault Kitchen & Market: Menu & Drinks
While the architecture and decor are impressive, the cuisine is its claim to fame.
Among the standout plates is the Miso Salmon, a tender fillet dressed in a rich miso glaze. The sautéed shiitake mushrooms, asparagus tips, and white rice complement the miso salmon for a balanced umami flavor.
Another favorite is the Deposit Box Duck. This fusion of a Southern staple with Asian flavors features BBQ duck, lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon, chipotle sauce, sesame seeds, and cilantro. The tender duck, with the perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness, will delight your taste buds.
For those seeking a comforting meal, the Chicken Clay Pot is a hearty and flavorful option. This dish features savory chicken with rice and curry, Thai chili, ginger, and Thai green eggplants. The meal comes in a piping-hot clay pot that locks in the flavors and textures.
Celebrate your day at Skidaway Island State Park with one of The Vault’s captivating cocktails. The Cilantro Mojito is a refreshing twist on the classic, with coconut rum, cilantro, ginger, and lime juice. The herby brightness pairs beautifully with the menu’s bold flavors.
There are also impressive beer and wine selections, ensuring something for everyone.
