History
The Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village was founded by the visionary businessman Abe Miller. After frequenting Sedona on vacations, he began to dream of building an arts village. The goal was to reflect the charm and mood of Old Mexico. In his ideal plan, the village was to be a living arts community.
The name Tlaquepaque was inspired by the charming Mexican city of the same name located near Guadalajara in central Mexico. In addition, in the Nahuatl Native Indian language Tlaquepaque means the "best of everything." Both meanings fit the ambiance of this unique, lively, and incredible center in the heart of Sedona.
