About

Old Spruce Brewing is a spacious, two-story brewery serving American food and craft beer! With just about 10,000sq. ft of usable space, they are one of the largest brewpubs in the whole state. The owner of the Old Spruce establishments, Lawrence, opened the Brewery just a few years ago in 2019. He got his start in the Snowshoe market when he opened the Old Spruce Tavern in 2010 - one of the two locations found in the village. The second being the Old Spruce Draft House.

Getting There

This establishment is on the same intersection as Snow Creek Mountain Sports. If you are heading up to Silver Creek Resort, you will definitely spot these two sizable businesses before going further up the mountain. As far as parking goes, there is plenty lining the front, side, and back of the building.

Inside Old Spruce Brewery

The owners have spared no expense in decorating the brewery. There are vintage items, string lights, and artwork everywhere you turn! The especially striking decor item is the chandelier hanging above the entryway. From the second floor, you can get a much closer look by sitting near the door to the balcony.

It does tend to be pretty busy on weekend nights, but that's to be expected at most places on the mountain. With the restaurant area of the building being around 4,000sq. ft of space, they're able to accommodate plenty of guests. The capacity is around 300 people, that's far more than any other restaurant on the mountain! Throughout the brewery, there are plenty of varying tables and sizes to accommodate all groups.

Though it's closed off to the public, the back half of the first floor is where they house their distillery. That's where all the beer-brewing magic happens!

Old Spruce Beer

Of course, the main draw of the brewery is their famous and locally-loved craft beer. At Old Spruce, there are always 5-7 year-round beers available on draft. Plus, whatever seasonal flavors they offer. Some local favorites include their Hazy IPA and Blonde Ale. With the Hazy, you'll have tropical, juicy, citrus notes. Alternatively, the Blonde Ale gives light, subtle, melon and berry tastes. Examples of seasonal brews they've had in the past include a Raspberry Berliner Weisse and Christmas ESB (extra special bitter).

When you come here, you can rest assured that you are being served by knowledgeable beer tenders. The bartenders here must be Cicerone certified. That means that they must pass an exam that proves they have a solid understanding of all the inner workings when it comes to beer. Though the beer is the star of the show, they do have a full bar - carrying a decent selection of wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Old Spruce Brewery Menu

No matter what you're in the mood for, you will definitely find something to satisfy. From salads, tacos, and rice bowls to desserts - they've got a little bit of everything on the menu. Some popular starters include the quesadilla, nachos, and their famous candied cayenne bacon. The candied cayenne bacon is a specialty you can only find at Old Spruce Brewery! Thick-cut bacon is candied in cayenne and a brown sugar glaze.

For a full entree, we recommend trying one of their signature rice bowls. You really can't go wrong no matter which protein you go with. However, the Pale Ale Beef Brisket and Seared Ahi Tuna bowls are especially tasty.

Want to top off the meal with a sweet treat? Have a slice of Creme Brulee Cheesecake or enjoy a delicious hot/cold combo with the Rockslide Brownie Sundae.
