Welcome to

Tampa

Tampa’s spectacular waterfront, abundance of outdoor activities, and inviting nightlife offer something for everyone on a Gulf Coast getaway. Located in west-central Florida, this vibrant and sunny hub is part of greater Tampa Bay. Encompassing the surrounding cities of Clearwater and St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay attracts families, couples, outdoor enthusiasts, and solo travelers eager to explore its lively, welcoming communities and easy, laid-back vibe.

Tampa sits on the edge of an immense natural harbor extending out into the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The city’s deep-rooted history is a vivid reflection of diverse cultural influences, dating from the arrival of Spanish explorers in the early 1500s and development of the region after Florida became part of the U.S. in 1845. Part of the area’s rich past can be seen in the historic Ybor City neighborhood, named for Vicente Martinez Ybor who established a cigar factory here in 1886.

With an ample coastline to the west that reaches up to the stunning beaches of Clearwater, Tampa Bay is considered by many to be a world-class fishing destination. Outdoor aficionados also enjoy exploring the dazzling Hillsborough River that flows into the bay on the eastern part of the city.

Sports enthusiasts enjoy Tampa’s world-class arenas, home to professional football, baseball, soccer, and hockey teams. Raymond James Stadium of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is conveniently located near the airport, while hockey fans in Tampa can head to Amalie Arena just blocks from downtown as well as the waterfront. Hop across the bay to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg to catch a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game.

Tampa’s unique character and identity, which seamlessly blends music and pirate festivals with professional sports teams and outdoor recreation, provides an undeniably warm welcome. From family getaways to romantic winter escapes, Tampa is your go-to west-central Florida getaway destination!
