The Ghost Walk covers several city blocks (about a mile) and lasts one hour. If you added the Jail Tour, plan an extra 30 minutes for this exciting adventure. But if you're like me, you might only last 15 minutes before the heebie-jeebies have you running for the door!
If you want to have added the Jail Tour during the Ghost Tour, ask your guide how to pay on the spot and have them count you.

Haunted Fredericksburg Ghost Tours: Fun facts and cool features
If you're afraid of ghosts or being dragged away by family and peers, here's some comforting news. You can walk down Main Street in Fredericksburg, consuming wine, beer and cocktails at any of the hotel's restaurants. So plan to get there early to buy your adult beverage before you walk in the spirits!
Plus, Fredericksburg is a German settlement steeped in Civil War culture and history that the guides add to their ghost stories, making for an educational tour.
I opted to pay for the jail tour, and as I entered the eerily dark, rocky building, I felt a palpable heaviness. As if that wasn't bad enough, the tour guide's stories gave me goosebumps! One in particular concerned the caretaker who left prisoners for days without care, food, or water. Many inmates have died due to such neglect.
My tour guide added that some visitors to the jail had had paranormal encounters. Some of those who took pictures later discovered peculiar orbs in the image. Other guests experienced severe attacks similar to the energy, which made them feel nauseated and dizzy. Several guests reported seeing ghostly images peering out of windows or flitting down a hallway.
When we got out of jail, our tour guide shared the same sentiment as us: they didn't like being the last out and felt an overwhelming need to escape quickly. The guide added that despite taking prison tours for years, they still don't feel comfortable inside.
Another attraction to visit is the Admiral Nimitz Gallery. Nimitz is the local hero and the gallery is part of the National Museum of the Pacific War. While not rich in ghost stories, the museum contains images and memorabilia for lovers of WWII history.

From Austin, take US-290 West to Johnson City and then to Fredericksburg. Plan for the trip to last between 1.5 and 2 hours.
