The Square itself is in the heart of the sweet little Texan town called Wimberley, located in the northern Texas Hill Country. It's full of charming character, and host to many varied events throughout the year.

You can stop by one of the venues to enjoy a glass of wine or visit a candy store. Several art galleries and craft shops also make this a fantastic spot for those looking to buy a special gift.

The really great thing about Wimberley Square is that it also hosts tons of entertainment. From live music during summer evenings to themed events for children and holidays. Plus, several organizations use the square for activities throughout the year, so there's fun year-round.

With the trees, greenery, and overall atmosphere, it's quite rejuvenating.

Wimberley Square: Fun Facts & Cool Features

First established in 1900 as a community gathering space, the square offered plenty of places to tie up your horse while exploring the area. With about 140 people, Wimberley offered everything a small town could offer: schools, a church, and a town hall.

Fast-forward to today, and there's still a sense of yesteryear when walking through town. In fact, the oldest building on the square is the John Henry Saunders Homestead, which was built in the 1870s.

Whether you're a history buff or prefer to explore the surrounding area, Wimberley has plenty to enjoy. Spend a day kayaking and hiking along the White River. Or have dinner and ice cream at the Square.

For a great night under the stars, visit Chill's on the Creek. You can get some food or just have a few drinks. And while you relax, enjoy the flow of Cypress Creek right in front of you. It's quite fascinating how beautiful nature can be!

Getting There

Wimberley Town Square is about 15 minutes from Dripping Springs. It's located on Henson Road.

Wimberley Café, Longleaf Craft Kitchen and Bar, and Monster Treats are all within walking distance of the square itself. You can also get there off Old Kyle Road. If you're coming from out of town, take I-35.

Local Tips

  • Parking is a challenge and often is always a frustrating part of visiting this location when there are events happening or during the weekends. I find it best to come during the week, when possible, or if you come while it’s busy, park a bit and walk.
  • Wimberley Market Days are busy but very much worth visiting when they occur (that’s usually during the summer months).
  • The Chamber of Commerce usually provides information about what’s happening at the Square. I recommend checking it out often, as there’s always something new here.
