St. Lucie/Vero Beach/Fort Pierce
The Treasure Coast is an area along Florida’s southeast coast which gained its name from a Spanish Treasure Fleet lost near the shores in 1715. The area is comprised of 3 counties boasting 65 miles of beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Ocean as well as coastal waterways like the Indian River Lagoon which is considered one of the most biologically diverse estuaries in North America. In addition, Lake Okeechobee is the largest lake in the southeastern United States and provides freshwater recreation. With excellent fishing, hundreds of miles of equestrian and hiking trails, 75 golf courses, thousands of acres of nature preserves, endless parks and water related recreation opportunities, the Treasure Coast is truly a nature-lover’s paradise.
Within the Treasure Coast, the cities of Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Stuart, Okeechobee, Port Saint Lucie, Sebastian, Jensen Beach, Palm City, Jupiter, Fellsmere, Roseland, Wobasso, Hobe Sound, Indiantown, Port Salerno, Saint Lucie Village, Sewall's Point, Hutchinson Island, Indian River Shores, and Orchid Island provide quaint yet vibrant settings for dining, shopping, entertainment, along with frequent festivals and other community activities. Each city has a unique identity and cultural attractions like theaters and historical sites. Port St. Lucie is the most populated city in the area and is home to the New York Mets spring training season and hosts their minor league team. Completing the area’s attractions there are multiple botanical gardens, museums, and nature centers found throughout the Treasure Coast.
