About

Safari Comedor Zama offers fire-roasted traditional Mexican cuisine in a Bohemian setting and has become one of Tulum's trendy hot spots.

Our tale begins in 2015 when Chef Luis Aguilar discovered a 1971 Airstream. He transformed it into his kitchen, and voila! Safari Comedor Zama was born!

Chef Luis combines Mayan culture with his style, inspired by his jungle experiences and cooking with fire.

"Safari" hints at the adventurous essence of its menu, designed to evoke a sense of exploration with each bite. Chef Luis' dedication to honor the Mayan customs and the ingredients led to the eatery's sauce, Salsa Madre.

Safari Comedor Zama is off the beaten path near the jungle, which adds to its allure. The setting, reclusive yet inventive, adds to its mystique. The menu is simple, but the flavors are rich without being overly complicated.

Along with stellar food, expect tasty libations. There's nothing like toasting a day at Xel-Ha Park with a mouthwatering taco and freshly made margarita.

Adding this eatery to your dining itinerary connects you to the roots of Mexican culinary traditions. Like a safari, you'll be in for an unforgettable dining escapade.

Vibe

The exterior welcomes you with palm-laden pathways and the historic Airstream. The rustic yet modern open-air setting blends with the tropical surroundings.

Inside, the decor continues the natural theme with contemporary features like wooden furniture, woven decorations, and ambient lighting. The atmosphere is enchanting.

The dining area offers private settings and those for groups and families to mingle. Another dining area is beneath the handcrafted palapas or the canopy of trees.

The vibe at Safari Comedor Zama is laid-back and lively, making it suitable for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Tulum's unique lifestyle.

Whether dining solo, as a romantic dinner, or there for Happy Hour, the restaurant will charm and enhance your Tulum vacation experience.
