About

When your last name is "French," and your background is a sommelier and musician, you're destined to open something unique like Stylus Wine and Vinyl Bar.

The genesis of this ingenious eatery dates back years. Monday evenings were when Krista and Robby French enjoyed wine, cooked dinner, and listened to their records. Toss in trips to France, and the couple dreamed of opening a spot that emulated their Monday evening traditions.

An opportunity presented itself in the fall of 2021 on Fourth Street, and in 2022, they opened to the public. Here, Krista can flex her CMS-certified sommelier muscles, and Robby can express his passion and skill as a musician.

What makes this restaurant special is the couple's vast vinyl record collection. Robby, acting as DJ, spins a variety of albums, the diamond-studded stylus pumping out grooves and melodies through the high-end audio system. The pulsating music makes for a unique dining and wine-sipping experience. "Wax Wednesday" encourages patrons to bring in a vinyl record to play and receive $1 off their first draft beer or $2 off their first glass of wine.

Its location in Downtown Coeur d'Alene makes it convenient to area attractions. Plan a day of sightseeing at Tree to Tree Idaho adventure park or Silverwood Theme Park, followed by a night at Stylus. Or make a day of sampling wine by combining Coeur d'Alene Cellars with this iconic eatery. With so many things to see and do, the possibilities are endless.

Stylus Wine and Vinyl Bar offers an experience over Euro-centric and regional wines, simple French-inspired food, and the classic sound of vinyl records.

Vibe

The establishment is in a small strip mall whose facade blends contemporary and industrial elements perfectly. Large windows offer a glimpse of the warm and inviting atmosphere inside, while the signage is simple and elegant, complementing the building's architecture.

The interior decor features pale wood floors, a brown ceiling, and vintage chairs and barstools. A prominent tufted green velvet couch and matching velour curtains add a touch of retro elegance.

The centerpiece of the space is the bar, where over 3,000 albums and countless wines fill the shelving.

The space offers varied seating, including intimate tables, comfortable lounge areas, and seating at the sleek bar.

Best of all, the layout feels like a well-decorated living room rather than a wine bar. This welcoming and comfortable ambiance makes it an ideal stop during an Idaho vacation.

Stylus Wine and Vinyl Bar: Menu & Drinks

The menu focuses on French-inspired snacks and small plates, perfect for sharing.

The charcuterie boards are popular picks and come with a baguette and accoutrements. A standout is the Jambon de Paris, featuring "the ham of Paris" that is slow-roasted and delicately spiced. Also popular are the smoked duck with brown sugar and garlic, and the Spicy Coppa, featuring spicy pork salami seasoned with red pepper, nutmeg, and allspice.

Another favorite is the Croque-Monsieur, a classic French sandwich with French ham, Gruyère, Dijon, and béchamel on a baguette. It's broiled until melty and comes with greens with olive oil and lemon.

The list of hors d'oeuvres is impressive, with options ranging from nuts and a baguette to salmon pate. One popular way for sharing is Snacks with Mum. This chef's board includes cheeses, meats, and little nibbles.

Along the same line are the selection of cheeses or fromage. Yancy's Fancy Smoked Gouda is made in New York from cow's milk and is semi-soft. The Comté is a classic French cheese with a nutty flavor and is semi-hard.

The curated wine list showcases both Pacific Northwest and European varietals. With over 120 bottles available, there is something for every palate.

With its cozy atmosphere, unique spin on music, and French-inspired fare and wines, Stylus Wine and Vinyl Bar adds a layer of culinary and cultural sophistication to any Gem State getaway.
