About

With a history dating back to the 1930s, Tony's on the Lake provides a window into Idaho's colorful past while serving top-notch Italian cuisine.

In its infancy, the building reflected the wilder, frontier-town roots of Coeur d'Alene. In 1939, Jeanette Winters, a resourceful figure, built the current structure. Her neon sign said it all: "Jeanette's Club. Dine. Dance." But this wasn't a restaurant; it was a bordello, where gambling and women of the night thrived.

The remnants of this era still exist in the basement, such as the numbered doors and checkered tile floors. The saying, "If these walls could talk," takes on a new meaning in this light!

Some of the original small rooms, once used as cribs, now serve as storage, preserving the brothel's unconventional history.

Jeanette's Club became Tony's Supper Club in 1952, ushering in a more legitimate means of income. Tony Carneiro and his family ran this eatery and made it a beloved dining spot near Downtown Coeur d'Alene.

In 2004, Paul and Bonnie D'Alessandro purchased the restaurant with their daughter, Cheyenne, acting as executive chef. With her training at the Culinary Institute of America and in Florence, Italy, Cheyenne brings authentic Italian cuisine to this renovated eatery.

From its risqué start to its years as a supper club, Tony's offers not only authentic Italian cuisine but also a piece of Coeur d'Alene's history.

Vibe

With picturesque views of Lake Coeur d'Alene, Tony's offers an upscale setting but with an approachable ambiance.

The facade blends off-white and gray colors to create a contemporary look. The painted marquee sign of "Tony's Supper Club" is a nod to the restaurant's past, and glows at night in rich neon hues.

Inside, the restaurant offers a warm and comfortable setting inspired by traditional Italian trattorias. The decor features rich wood tones, soft, modern lighting, and linen-covered tables.

The main dining room offers a traditional restaurant experience with lake views. Bar seating will appeal to those seeking a more casual setting for drinks and appetizers, while the patio is your go-to in warmer months for al fresco dining.

These elements combine to create an atmosphere that is sophisticated yet relaxed. It is the ideal place for groups to celebrate a day at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course or couples on a romantic date.

Tony's on the Lake promises a relaxing and memorable dining experience, making it a perfect addition to any Idaho vacation itinerary.

Tony's on the Lake: Menu & Drinks

Kick off your dinner with any of the made-to-order salads featuring fresh, local ingredients. The Italian features arugula, cured meats, olives, tomatoes, red onion, pepperoncini, and pecorino. Tying these together is the house-made Italian vinaigrette, making this salad a strong contender.

Moving to the main courses, the house-made pasta options have something for everyone. One standout is the lasagna with homemade spinach noodles, layered with a meat-and-mushroom ragu. Add the fresh, melted mozzarella, and it will satisfy any hunger after exploring the Seven Stars Alpaca Ranch LLC.

Steak lovers will marvel at the four options. The 8-oz tenderloin is cooked to your liking and comes with gnocchi in cognac cream sauce and seasonal vegetables. For the famished, the 16-oz ribeye will do the job, and like the other steaks, it comes with the same sides.

There are plenty of seafood options, like the salmon piccata. This dish features fresh salmon in a white wine, lemon, and butter sauce. It comes with orzo with capers, mushrooms, and sundried tomatoes, along with seasonal vegetables.

The wine list is impressive, with plenty of options to pair with the Italian cuisine. You'll also spot wines and drinks that honor the 1930s Madame like "Jeannette's Red Cabernet" from Columbia Valley, Washington, and "Jeanette's Martini."The latter features Uncle Val's Botanical gin, St. Germain, lemon, honey, simple syrup, and orange bitters.

A meal at Tony's on the Lake offers classic lakeside leisure, rich history, and stellar fare, making for a memorable culinary highlight on any Gem State getaway.
